Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 21, 2026
This page explains, in plain English, what information we collect when you visit japanesewalkingplan.com or buy one of our ebooks, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect only what we need to sell and deliver our products, we never sell your data, and you can reach a real person anytime at [email protected].
Who we are
The Japanese Walking Plan is a small US-based business that sells digital ebooks (PDF downloads) about interval walking, at japanesewalkingplan.com. "The Japanese Walking Plan" is our trade name. There are no accounts or logins on this site — you buy, we email you your books, that's it.
What we collect
- Order and contact information. When you buy, our checkout provider ThriveCart and our payment processors Stripe and PayPal collect your name, email address, billing details, and payment information on our behalf. We never see or store your full card number — that stays with Stripe or PayPal.
- Your email address. We use it to deliver your PDFs, send your receipt, and send occasional updates about your purchase or our products.
- Basic analytics and advertising cookies, including the Meta (Facebook) Pixel. In one line: the pixel tells Meta which pages on our site you visited, so we can measure whether our ads work and show more relevant ones.
How we use your information
- To deliver the ebooks you bought and process your payment
- To answer your support and refund requests
- To send service emails about your order, plus occasional product emails you can unsubscribe from at any time
- To measure and improve our advertising
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that make this business run:
- ThriveCart — our checkout provider
- Stripe and PayPal — payment processing
- Meta — advertising measurement via the Meta Pixel
- MailerLite — the service that sends our emails
Each of these companies has its own privacy policy. We never sell your personal information, and we never share it with anyone else except if the law requires it.
Cookies and opt-outs
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time — the site will still work fine. To control the ads you see from Meta, visit your ad preferences at www.facebook.com/adpreferences. For broader interest-based advertising opt-outs, visit aboutads.info.
How long we keep your data
We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. We keep your email on our list until you unsubscribe — every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Just email [email protected] and we'll take care of it.
California residents: under California law (CCPA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA.
EU and UK visitors: this site is designed for US customers, but if the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you have rights of access, correction, erasure, portability, and objection. We process your data to fulfill your purchase and for our legitimate interests in running and marketing this business. Email us and we'll honor your request.
Children
This site and our products are for adults. They are not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. Meaningful changes will be noted plainly at the top of the page.
